Hold me to this!

Okay, sooo! Lent 2011 was the most fruitful that I have ever had, and I am determined to top it! :)

I know that many of you have given up Facebook etc, but I'm not as addicted to Facebook as I am to my phone... I need to put my phone on the mantle and leave it there for the whole day unless I need to make a call.

So here is my Lenten list:
1. Leave phone on mantle unless making or taking a call, and no apps during the day.
2. Check email on phone only twice in the morning, and twice in the afternoon. (This may sound ridiculous, but I am a compulsive email checker...)
3. No computer until the kids are in bed unless I need a recipe. :)
4. Renew Total Consecration To Jesus Through Mary. (I know I still owe you a post on this! And you will get one this Lent! Please look into it if you haven't already. It has changed my spiritual life! Mary, Queen of All Hearts, pray for us!)
5. Read and finish The Secret of the Rosary by St. Louis de Montfort. I read True Devotion to Mary by him last year, and I was knocked over by it!
6. Get to bed by 11:30.
7. Spend quiet time in prayer in the mornings.
8. Include Scripture reading at some point during the day even if it is just a few verses.
9. Take my kids to pray at 40 days for life at least once.

Remember when I used to blog two or three times a week? That dropped off during Lent last year because I quit spending time during the day writing a blog post, and I just couldn't get to in during the evenings.... I may try to start writing one post a week again because I miss this.

That said, I did not sign up for Lenten prayer buddies this year. I prayed my heart out for my advent prayer buddy, and I did notify her, but I never even wrote a post talking about how wonderful she is! Sigh... I'm so sorry, Kristen! I was so privileged to be able to pray for her, and I asked Mary to shower graces down on her and her husband as they struggle with infertility. Check her out her awesomeness here: http://luckyassunshine.blogspot.com/

And Kristen, I'm finally following you!

Alright, ready, set, let's have a fruitful Lenten season!!

  2. This is pretty much my list! Except my kids take a nap so I will allow myself phone use during that time. Ugh no texting, fb or email while the kids are awake!

    Also doing the consecration :)

  3. I stumbled upon our blog, and I admire your ability to PUBLISH your list of lenten resolutions! Some great stuff, and I am totally with you on the compulsive email checking thing! It is great to find another catholic mommy blogger. I have been a long-time reader of Catholic blogs and my sister and I just made the big plunge and started our own blog, http://dosmallthingswithlove.blogspot.com/. Feel free to stop by. I will continue to read what you have to write!
