  1. Love them. And love that they're taking down IN PP!

  2. i'm curious who will provide services for underinsured women -- women who dont qualify for medicaid but are still low-income and cant afford checkups at their primary health physicians office. would the random clinics that the PP staff mention in the video be as affordable as PP?

full disclosure i am catholic and do not support PP or any of their contraceptive/abortive services, obviously!! but there is a gap between people on medicaid and the working poor who just barely fail to meet the qualifications; i dont want to be too hasty in saying they all need to be shut down if there are legit healthcare services (mammograms) that they can provide...

  3. Sarah, I'm wondering the same thing. I hope there are lots of primary care doctors who accept medicaid patients and those who are caught in the underinsured gap.

  4. Sarah, thanks for your comment!

I understand your concerns, however, at this point, even without Medicaid funding, Planned Parenthood wouldn't disappear. They may close some clinics, but overall they would still be providing services. Medicaid funds shouldn't be supplementing anyone except those who qualify for it.

Also, it is my understanding that Medicaid patients are given a list of providers close to them including a primary care doctor.

Finally, I don't know if you saw this or not, but it recently came to light that Planned Parenthood does NOT provide mammograms. Live Action did another video on this where they called clinics across the country and none of them provided these services. http://liveaction.org/blog/planned-parenthood-ceos-false-mammogram-claim-exposed/

The extent of their breast health care is simply a basic exam comparable to a self breast exam, and this can easily be done by a different provider.

And if PP is federally defunded, there really are many options.

In most areas there are free health clinics run by church's with nurses, doctors, and dentists who volunteer their time to treat patients for free. You can also google free health clinics and any state or city, and a list of free or low income clinics will pop up. Here is a link to one such clinic: http://www.trinityfreeclinic.org/home

I also have close family members who depend on state health care, and they have no problems finding services. One family member even had his wisdom teeth removed while on that plan.

The services are out there, but people just don't know as much about them.
