This has been good for me considering that I spend more time doing other things, but it has been BAD for my blogging! I didn't even get the prayer up yesterday!
I ran the 5k this past Saturday, and I was so pleased with myself because I ran the whole way! Remember when I said I was shooting for just under 10 minute mile pace? Well, it turns out that I grossly overestimated my speed.... For some weird reason, I thought that my 5 mile an hour pace on the treadmill was the equivalent of a 10 minute mile.... WRONG.
Bill came downstairs during my run, noticed that I was running much slower than 10 minute mile pace and gently broke the news to me... I was so disappointed that I was actually running 12 minute miles!
However, for the race, I ran an 11:24 mile pace so I was happy with that! I ran faster than I do on the treadmill, and I felt good the whole way! :)
I am really excited to keep running, and I have made a personal goal to run a 5k every couple of months. I also hope to continue running whenever we get pregnant again. I have been incredibly out of shape when I was pregnant with both of our girls, and I would really like to try and exercise more the next time around.
We have decorated for Christmas, and I love it! I get so festive around the holidays, and I am currently wearing a bright green long sleeved shirt that says JINGLE in gold lettering.... :) Shameless, I know....but I LOVE IT!
I got a Fontanini Nativity set last year for Christmas, and I was so excited to make it center stage this year! I put the donkey and the cow on my Christmas list to fill the stable stalls, and of course baby Jesus has yet to arrive. :) (I know, I know, the three wisemen shouldn't be there either, but they are so cute and complete the scene so nicely!)
I love our tree! We always get a real Frasier Fir, and our house smells heavenly! We always have a hodge podge of ornaments, but the ones on the bottom are all shatter proof!! I love them, and it is a great idea for people with cats or toddlers! :) They look great, and you honestly cannot tell the difference!
Also, prayer buddy, if you could please pray for a spirit of abandonment to God's will for me, that would be wonderful. We have been presented with a possible job opportunity for Bill in the next year and a half that would entail moving 8 hours away... I will write more about this later, but any prayers would be appreciated! Thank you so much!
Beautiful nativity set Megan! And your tree looks wonderful too.
ReplyDeleteAnd hey, I think the fact that you're running is good enough! You could run a 1/2 hour mile and it would still beat mine!
Wow, your tree and nativity set are beautiful! :) And congratulations on the 5k! :)
ReplyDeleteI love our Fontanini Nativity set too! Yours is a little bigger than ours, but they are just so wonderful to look at!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the 5k!!!! You are awesome!
Your Nativity scene is gorgeous and tree is, too!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on that 5K! I'm super impressed. I can't run to the end of my street. Way to go!
Good job on your time for the run! When I was really working out and doing 5K's, I managed between a 10-12 minute mile. I found I did better if I didn't put too much pressure on the time, because otherwise I got too disappointed.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to train for the 10 minute mile, turn up the treadmill to 6 miles/hour. You can do it!!
60 min/6 miles= 10 minutes/mile
60 min/5 miles= 12 minutes/mile
I love our Fraser fir, as well. This is our 2nd year in row to go with a Fraser. If we could afford the Noble, I'd totally go with that. I love the smell of real trees!
Okay, I LOVE Christmas and your nativity and tree are gorgeous! My DH also can't get enough of Christmas and he has been wearing an elf hat around the apartment lol. We also have a Fraser fur. :) I wish I could post pics but more camera trouble (always the case!!). One day soon. Really.
ReplyDelete12 minute miles for a 5K are pretty great, IMHO. :) I am impressed... good for you for completing it!
Beautiful!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd, I will pray for you, even though I am not your prayer buddy. Or, I guess there is a chance I might be, but it's more likely that I'm not, considering the odds. :)
WOW woman!!! you are awesome! :) I do not like running...although it is "growing on me" lately. Funny!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Christmas decorations!
If you guys do end up moving (where is it to???), please know that I am very familiar with moving and would be happy to offer support. I definitely know how hard it is to move away from family and familiarity. You'll be in my prayers.
I second Mary - wow!!! About both the 5k and the cute pics...I love seeing people's decorations for the various seasons, and Advent being such a beautiful season in its own right. I need to get back on the workout train. Ugh...but thanks for the inspiration! ;)
ReplyDeleteI agree with Mary...I understand the whole moving away from family. I did that for 8 years and so I understand. Prayers are going on the Post it:) haha...it's my new app and I love it bc it reminds me of my prayers:)
