Unbelievable...yet not.

Last weekend, Bill and I were driving to a Christmas party, and as we were flipping through the radio stations, we stumbled upon an interesting discussion.

The radio hosts were discussing an incest case between a father and his 18 year old daughter, and one of the hosts was saying how she thought the legal case was absolutely justified and that incest was completely wrong.

The other host took the position that laws against incest are outdated and unnecessary... She argued that if the two people are consenting adults, their family relationship shouldn't be an issue. When the other host brought up the possibility of birth defects in any children the incestuous affair created, the pro incest host argued that the risk of birth defects was actually a myth... She made the argument that cats and other animals are grossly inbred, and yet they are fine...

After my initial shock wore off, I immediately thought of our many Bubble discussions, and as expected, when homosexuality is normalized in society, the line that defines sexual morality becomes drastically blurred.

Some people may find this to be a crazy conclusion, but it seems obvious to me that we are inching closer and closer to pedophilia gaining social acceptance.... It may be a slow process, but is it really so absurd? Why is 17 the age of consent? Are the brains of a 15 year old and a 17 year old that different? What's to stop the age of consent from gradually decreasing?

Is it really that crazy? Sodomy was illegal in some places in the US until 2003. Incest laws could very easily be the next to go, and then what's next?

The possibilities scare me!

John Paul II, pray for us!

  1. It's crazy!!! But yes, it's happening! Will this wake people up, or just lull them further? I don't know. God have mercy!!

  2. EEeeeeeeeeeeeewww! I hope this does wake people up! AND it's not true that animals are "fine", many breeds of cats or dogs are prone to certain deformities or health problems because of their inbreeding.

  3. I read an article about this the other day! It's so messed up! I don't understand how people can think this is okay... Lord have mercy on us.

  4. You are so right! It's sad but I feel like it's only a matter of time before everything and anything becomes acceptable.

  5. And going along with Hebrews' comment about animals:

My husband is a veterinarian. Most "pure bred" dogs and cats have WAY more health problems than mutts. Ex: German Shepherds (we had a rescue dog who was a GS who we had to put down recently) are very prone to all sorts of ailments, especially hip dysplasia and thyroid/immune problems. Mutts typically have the best traits of the dogs they come from.

It's frightening what some people are willing to support... do you think this was more for the sake of having a controversial radio conversation and getting people to call in, or did the host really believe it?

  6. Yeah, this whole idea that redefining marriage won't have any implications is ludicrous. Even polygamy is coming into style, at least on certain TV shows. Yes, I get that it's a "free country." That doesn't mean we have to formally sanction every lifestyle choice ever made. Crazy!

  8. I have always been upset about the whole Woody Allen scandal when he and his adopted daughter started a sexual relationship - but this is the limit (or not sadly). Disgusting!
