Oh Lent...

I am ashamed to say that I have never ever had a successful Lent.... I always start out well, and then as the days wear on, my resolve wears thin. I am weak.

So this Lent, I am hoping that if I blog about my Lenten journey, it will help me stay accountable. I always go back and forth in the days leading up to Lent about what God is asking of me, and many times I find myself rejecting certain sacrifices because I am afraid that I will bite off more than I can chew. Perhaps I lack trust in God's grace?

So this Lent, I will be pushing myself...

Here is my plan:

Fasting: No computer or iphone apps (except my iRosary and Magnificat app) during the day until the girls go to bed at night. No sweets except on Sundays.

Prayer: Daily Rosary and evening Magnificat prayer.

Spiritual Reading: Rereading You Can Become a Saint by Mary Ann Budnik and a third attempt at True Devotion to Mary by St. Louis De Montfort.

Alms giving: Donate a bag of canned/dry goods to our parish food pantry once a week. Pray outside of Planned Parenthood at least twice for 40 Days for Life.

I think that this is going to be very challenging but not out of reach. Prayer buddy, could you please pray that I will be able to persevere through this Lent? Thank you!

Happy Fat Tuesday! We are having pancakes, eggs, and bacon for dinner tonight! Yum!

  2. You've got some great readings for the season. Good luck, I fail a lot too, but at least we learn how much we need the Lord! Blessings, Holly

  5. Prayers for your Lenten sacrifices - I failed miserably at my rosary last year, but this year I'm praying for The Man, so surely I'll do a better job - right?!?! ha!
