I recently read Scott Hahn's book The Lamb's Supper, and in it he talks about how we go to heaven every time we are at Mass! It was when I understood this beautiful truth, that I developed a new appreciation for the grandeur and splendor of cathedrals. When people criticize the Church for spending money on such beautiful buildings rather than on the poor etc, they fail to realize that this architecture and detail was meant to bring us closer Christ by taking us even closer to the beauty of heaven. The beauty of these structures is only capable of demonstrating the tiniest fraction of the brilliance of heaven, but they inspire us to strive for new levels of holiness so that we can be enveloped in the richness of heaven some day.
Finally, I promise to keep this blog mostly kid story free, especially since I have our family blog to fill with all the funny little anecdotes. However, since some of you requested pictures, I thought I would mention that Avery actually did great as the flower girl! I was so nervous that I forgot to take pictures of her walking down the aisle, but it turned out that I had nothing to worry about. This gorgeous church had a magnificent crucifix over the altar, and Avery loves to identify Jesus anywhere and everywhere, so I just told her to hold the ring bearer's hand and walk to Jesus. :) So she walked down the aisle saying, "I'm going to see, Jesus! I'm walking to Jesus! We're walking to Jesus, Nate!" (Nate was the ring bearer.) It was classic!
Mommy's little flower girl. :)
How precious!!
ReplyDeleteOh my, she is so precious! I am glad you guys enjoyed the wedding and that is awesome about the church architecture. FYI...I was organizing my holy medals last night...yes, I am a dork and alphabetized them because I was tired of not being able to find the one I was looking for when they were all jumbled together in one container. Anyway - I found a St. Monica and right away, I thought of you and said - yes, it was meant to be. I am glad I hadn't sent the rosary earlier! I am hoping to send it later this week. God Bless you and your dear family!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, she is a doll! So sweet!! And you are a beauty!
ReplyDeleteI used to live in Atlanta (for only two years, and I didn't go to church much back then). If I had had a church like that one, I might have come back "home" sooner, ha ha! Gorgeous!
By the way, I LOVE your comments on my blog. :) You are a warrior for Christ!
Thanks, ladies!
ReplyDeleteJBTC- thank you so much! I love that you organized your medals. Organizational skills are something that I often lack so I am impressed! I am so excited and honored to receive the rosary! It was definitely meant to be! Thanks so much for making it for me!
Leila- Thank you! I'm glad to know you appreciate my comments. I love a good discussion! :)
