Quick Takes?

Okay so I'm going to attempt the 7 Quick Take Fridays that I have seen on several of the blogs. I still have to figure out how the whole thing works, but I saved the picture and then just added it like a photo. Is this how you do it? If anyone wants to clue me in, I would be grateful. :)

1. The blog http://www.conversiondiary.com/ is really awesome, and she has an amazing story! It's amazing how God can use even our modern technology to bring people to Himself.

2.My mind is overflowing with ideas for this blog, and I'm really excited to speak my mind a little bit. I am a sucker for a good discussion on ethical and moral issues from a Catholic perspective, and I usually have an opinion about everything so I'm excited to have a forum these thoughts. However, I promise there will be plenty of butterfly, puppy, and rainbow posts.

3. I was up until 2:45 last night because Bill was working on his final paper for a class. (He's getting his MBA) At 2:30, he still wasn't finished, but I couldn't take it anymore and went to bed. Lucy then woke me up at 5 am to nurse, and then she went back to sleep. Then Avery woke up for the day at 7... Needless to say I am exhausted.

4. I am really excited for a conference I get to go to this weekend! It is for young adult Catholics, and it is so refreshing to be surrounded by friends listening to talks that challenge me in my faith. I'm also bringing my sister, and I am hoping that God convicts her heart in her spiritual life. I am her confirmation sponsor, and I definitely feel a degree of responsibility in helping her develop her faith life and understand the Church's teachings.

5. I have this statue on my mantle, and I love her! I saw her in a Catholic book store, and I fell in love. I bought her with some Christmas money, and she is a beautiful reminder of Mary's Fiat, and whenever I am feeling lazy, I try to look up at her and find motivation. If she can raise the Son of God and watch Him be beaten, tortured and crucified, then I can definitely find the strength to clean up the kitchen.

6. I love the book The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian. It has prayers for basically every aspect of a husband's life, and they are beautifully written. She isn't a Catholic author, but she writes with such humility, compassion, and a true love for Christ. I will put some of her prayers on my blog at some point.

7. I have this Feejit on the sidebar of my blog, and I like it because I can see where my readers are located, but I'm wondering if it is tacky... Thoughts? Should I take it down and just be content with my site counter?
UPDATE: I decided to take it down. I don't want it to deter people from coming to my blog because they want to protect their privacy.

  1. I LOVE Stormie O'Martian's books. I had been in the habit of using Praying Wife book one month- one chapter/prayer a day, then Praying Parent the next month. But I've fallen a little behind. BUT I got Praying Wife off the shelf today and spent some time praying it! Great minds think alike? :)

Love your Blog title- will have to scroll down and see how you came up with it later, but what a perfect blog naem for a Catholic Mom!!

Tacky- NO. In fact- I kind of want one, too. but it does make me uncomfortable that people know where I am...

Conversion diary is the first blog I stalked. :) She is amazing! My favorite are her scorpian stories!

  2. Lauren, you make a good point about people knowing where you are. Maybe I should take it down for that reason alone. I don't want people to not visit my blog because of that. Actually, I think I will. Thanks for your input!

  3. Megan, I LOVE that statue!!! It's beautiful! I guess if Mary can do all that, I could clean my kitchen too! Have fun at the Frassati conference this weekend... Not sure I will make it there!! It sounds so good!! And you should join the bookclub on Lauren's blog!! You'd love it!!

  5. I love that statue I need it. I have that book but never opened it. :) I bought it when I was first pregnant and miscarried and never picked it up again. But I might go get it down.

  6. I love the statute - beautiful.

Glad you took it down. I hate those things! But, you can add a sitemeter to your blog. Ask Jenny on how to do it.
