So it would have made sense for me to go to bed at this point, but instead, I sat there watching Kardashian drama and I started to get so tired that I just sat there absorbing the crap... We have DVR so I really could have hit record and just gone to bed, but instead I looked at the clock every 10 minutes or so and watched time creep forward thinking, "I am going to be so tired tomorrow. I just need to go to bed," and yet I still sat there until 2:30 am! Then, I finally turned it off, went upstairs, climbed into bed, did my Creighton chart, and fell asleep in half a second noticing that it was 2:57 as my eyes closed...
Then in my exhaustion of the morning, I always think, I am going to bed tonight at 11 pm! And it never happens! haha
One of the priests at our church gave a great homily once about personal sacrifice, and he was talking about how one of his guilty pleasures is staying up way too late, eating M&M's, and watching Law and Order reruns! haha And he talked about how it is such a pleasing sacrifice for God when we deny ourselves in a situation like this. I totally identified with this because going to bed early would be a great mortification for me. Now I just need to think about this when I am in the middle of a night owl moment. :)
this was so funny! I laughed out loud at your husband's behavior (though I am sure it isn't as funny in person when you are the one trying to get him to bed!). I am the opposite in terms of sleep patterns (though def prone to trashy tv) and going to bed at 10 or 10:30 and waking at 6:30 or 7 is the norm for me...
ReplyDeleteThat is TOO funny. Thanks for making me laugh. :) Now start getting ready for bed!!!
ReplyDeleteMegan- what is your email? Email me at psalm34.3_magnifythelord@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI'd stay up late just to have dirt on hubs! Comments like that are keepers!
ReplyDeleteThat's hilarious! Oh and my trash show is The Bachelor/Bachelorette...love it!
ReplyDeleteWe are the same way! I end up waking up in the middle of the night and then staying awake watching cheaters sometimes. And I have the same reactions when I wake up DH and he doesn't remember anything he says!! Guess they must be heavy sleepers!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, that is hilarious! My hubby sometimes falls asleep on the couch, but I usually just nudge him and tell him I am going upstairs and then he will go come up eventually. I am not a huge TV person, but the computer is my total time sucker. Oh my, one night I was up until 1am writing my faith story. I had procastinated on it for awhile, but all of sudden I HAD to write it down at that moment. My DH came down about 1:30 and convinced me to go to bed. Ha! The excuses I use to rationalize and the thing is I am so NOT a night person, much more of a morning person.
ReplyDeleteOn a totally different note, I just wanted to say thanks for the nice comments you leave on my blog. There are so many dear and wonderful people on this blog network and I always appreciate new points of view - so thanks. And yes, your rosary is still on my to do list, but things have been a bit crazy with family drama, so I am hoping to get to it next week sometime. God Bless you and I hope you have a great weekend!
I do the same thing all the time! Mostly for me, it's the silence that I enjoy that keeps me up late. I put the kids to bed, leave the TV off and either putz around on the internet or read a book until the wee hours of the morning. All the while knowing I am going to be worthless the next day. But sometimes, I just can't help myself. After 12 hours of noisy children, hearing nothing at all is so nice.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I have to confess, I am guilty of doing what your husband does! I am awful once I fall asleep! Poor FI likes to say goodbye before leaving and many times made the mistake of waking me before he left. I feel SO BAD!
ReplyDeleteI am terrible about staying up too... getting the second wind... I like your priest's thoughts on sacrificing that!
oh my gosh, the staying up late is EXACTLY me!!!
ReplyDeleteI seriously need to work on that...
