"You Can Become a Saint"

Awhile back in this post, I mentioned that I love praying to my guardian angel, and I love asking for the intercession of the guardian angels of my family and others. I also mentioned that I love the fact that there are thousands of angels surrounding every tabernacle.
Someone asked me where I learned this information, and I have been wanting to post about this for awhile, and I'm just now getting around to it.
Anyway, I learned most of the angel knowledge from one of the best books I have ever read: You Can Become a Saint by Mary Ann Budnik. It really brings the path to faith and holiness into perspective, and the author provides practical applications and suggestions for growing in holiness. It is the kind of book that literally changes the way you live your life, and it makes achieving holiness seem more easily within our grasp. It is an easy read, and it is fascinating. If you look through my copy, there is so much highlighter and underlining in it because every other sentence is notable! haha
The book is filled with the wisdom and writing of the saints and rock solid Catholic teaching, and I highly recommend it! It is the type of book that is worth buying because it is worth re reading at least once a year!
To be honest, I was dragged into reading it because my book club decided to read it, and this is one of the many reasons why I love my book club girls. The push me, and I am so glad they did! I couldn't stop reading it, and I have noticed so much growth in my spiritual life over the last year because of this book. I have even given copies as gifts!
I know so many of you have long lists of books that you want to read, but I'm completely serious when I say that this one is worth your time! Happy Reading!

  1. I love when someone treasures a book I've never heard of!!!! YEA for learninga bout new books! Sounds wonderful, Megan. You mentioned your book club used this. Is it set up for that purpose? I mean- does it include questions at the end of the chapter? I"m always looking for books that do that.

  2. Lauren, I hope you read this book because it is amazing! :) It is actually not set up with a study guide format. Our book club consists of a handful of my wonderfully Catholic friends, and we always do faith based books. We basically choose books that look good or had good recommendations, and we discuss the books each week chapter by chapter, and we all pipe in about parts that we especially found valuable. It takes us forever to get through each book because we are so chatty, but I feel so blessed to have girlfriends who share my desire to grow in holiness and faith. :)

  3. Okay I definitely have to get this one! I was just thinking the other day how impossible it seems to become a Saint. And yet I know that is God's desire for us... so it can't be impossible. But then why does it seem so impossible? Round and round. :) This book sounds like the answer I need!

  4. I remember learning a lot about guardian angels from a Padre Pio book. It was so beautiful the way he would "send" his angel to meet with other angels. He even said that we can send our angels to mass for us! I LOVE knowing that my kid's angels are working hard for them...Thanks for the book rec., I can't wait to learn more!
