Quick Takes (vol. 11)

1. I went to Target last night, and I only bought one thing that wasn't on my list. This was huge for me! Target is a dangerous place for money and me....

2. To remedy my habit of buying tons of random things, I have decided to keep a Google Doc listing each Target transaction and all the items I bought... It is very difficult to make an accurate monthly budget when there are 5 or 6 Target charges each month, and I buy everything from toilet paper to crayons there...

3. I am so excited to carve pumpkins and take the girls trick or treating this weekend!

4. I think I have mentioned before that Bill is getting his MBA, and this semester he has had class three nights a week. It makes for very long days around here, but I am so excited because he took his final for the Monday class this week, and so now he will be home on Monday nights! SO happy about that! :)

5. I am such a dork, and I love to wear festive holiday shirts. Yesterday, I wore a black shirt with a glittery pumpkin on the chest; I am currently wearing a bright orange shirt with a cat on it that says Trick or Treat... and I have some hideously fun Halloween socks as well!

6. When I was at Target last night, I went back to the Halloween aisle, and I was shocked to see that they have crammed the leftovers into one aisle and are actively setting up their CHRISTMAS merchandise... RIDICULOUS people...

7. Please pray for Ann! So many of the other blogger ladies and I have been storming the gates of heaven for this lovely lady, and I know that any extra prayers would be so appreciated!

Happy weekend! :)

  1. #1: Good luck with that budget thing! I’m strict with a budget but I struggle with dividing into categories because of this, too. My way (and it does not work for everyone) is I have a set amount of money each month that can be spent on Groceries & Misc. items. (Target, Wal-Mart, Whole Foods, any grocery store, drug stores, etc.) I tend to use it first for groceries & meds and then buy my extra, unnecessary Target goodies at the end of the month when and if I have money leftover out of that stash.

I love Target. Jenny loved my Target’s store buggies and even took a picture of one, but I’m not sure what was so special about it.

#5: Oh my. You don’t have a Christmas sweater that jingles when you walk, do you?

    #7: Thank you.

  2. I'm heading to Target later today - I'm thinking starting to take only the amount I've budgeted to spend with me in cash. That has to help, right?

I too have some great Halloween socks and shirts. I wore them yesterday b/c today is a WVU Game day, so I've got my gold 'n blue on (priorities!).

    Have a great weekend.
