7 Quick Takes (vol. 12)

1. I recently got the Target generic brand for Tilex fresh shower, and it is fantastic! I actually think it works better than the name brand stuff! I of course am being really lazy and letting it clean my shower for me rather than starting with a clean shower, but it's working!!

2. I have decided that Milky Way is my favorite candy bar. :) My discernment process mainly consisted of raiding my two year old's Halloween candy bucket...

3. I have been limiting my computer time during the days to an hour in the morning and a couple of hours during nap/quiet time. It's amazing how much more productive I have been!

4. I have been RUNNING! I have been following the Couch to 5K training plan, and I am on the second week so far. It is awesome, and I have been actually looking forward to doing it!

5. I made oven fries yesterday, and they were fantastic! I just cut the potatoes into small wedges, tossed them in extra virgin olive oil, salt and peppered them, and then I threw them in a 450 degree oven until they were golden brown! It took about 25-30 minutes. They were amazing with some light sour cream, cheddar cheese, and ketchup!

6. I went to the grocery store on Wed., and they were giving away FREE PUMPKINS! Did we need pumpkins? No.... but they were FREE! So I took two home to grace our porch until Thanksgiving. :)

7. My family is moving my grandpa to a nursing home this weekend. He has Parkinsons, and his health has severely declined... it should be a good set up since the facility is very nice, and my grandma will be living in an assisted living apartment in the same place. If you could spare an extra prayer or two, it would be appreciated! They have lived in their house for almost 50 years, and the house was built by my great great grandfather... it will be an emotional weekend for them, but this decision is truly for the best.

Happy Friday!

  2. Congrats on the running program. Keep up the enthusiasm!!!

I am sorry to read about your grandpa. Parkinson's is an awful disease. Snicks' grandpa has been in a nursing home for the past two years because of it. I think that it is great that your grandma is moving too, even if it is hard. It will make it easier for both of them. Praying for them and your family.

  3. Will be praying for your grandparents. Agree that pumpkins are wonderful decoration until Thanksgiving (or the local squirrel eats it).

  4. I can never make homemade fries and have them turn out...I bake them and they are soft and flimsy....And you can tell me til you are blue in the face but I still can't do it...Whats your secret!? hahahaha

I would do the shower thing but I take a shower first then DH and I know it won't even happen! Hahahaha I keep a bottle of bleach water in there and spray it here and there and it seems to do the trick. I know bleach isn't environmentally friendly but neither is mildew. ;) hahaha

Reading of your grandparents makes my life flash before my eyes because in all of this beautiful mess I can't imagine that day coming but I'm afraid it might come faster then we imagine....Breaks my heart to be in the end days with your beloved....Ahhhhhh...K, not gonna cry.

  7. I'll definitely be praying for your grandparents. That must be so hard. :( I've been afraid to make oven fries because my mom never had them turn out right. I would also love to know your secret! :)
