The problem with this is that we humans forget that God is PERFCT in every way. He is bigger than our minds can possibly grasp.
We exist only because He loves us...
We could think about that one truth for hours and not truly be able to grasp it! It is because He loves us that much that He has high standards! He wants nothing more than to spend eternity with each of us in Heaven, and in His infinite mercy, He has given us the Church and the sacraments to help us get there.
HOWEVER, we have to take the initiative, and even when it hurts, we have to force ourselves to strive for holiness!
We are called to be like Mary and choose the better part of life even if it doesn't seem as flashy or exciting.
We are called to say YES!
God expects this from us, and we are fools if we think that God will lower Himself to meet our worldly expectations of what it means "to just be a good person."
God knows that on the path to holiness, we are going to struggle and fall, but we must get up and keep going. We must continually strive to meet God's standards and not fall into complacency! It is the least we can do for a God so loving that He gave His own life for us!
Amen sister!! I couldn't have said it better!
ReplyDeleteWhat if you have raging hormones? Are a jack hammer most days? Or even could go as far as to say something has over taken your body and forces you to lay on the couch and act like a maniac? hahahahahaha I was just thinking this morning, God sure had a sense of humor when he made me because most days I feel like a puppet being controlled my hormones.
ReplyDeleteBut yes, great post! I needed to hear this!
Amen! I really, REALY, needed to here this today! Thank you! I may be quoting you today. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat Post! I have been having some of these thoughts myself lately.
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteMegan this was really well said. I love the part about expecting God to lower Himself to our standards. This was fabulous!!!! Preach it!
ReplyDeleteWell I was thinking "AMEN" but then I read the Amens on here and thought darn...they stole my thought. haha.
ReplyDelete:) I'll add an AMEN, as well! My parents think pretty much everyone gets to heaven as long as they're "good people". This mindset is so prevalent it's scary, so I'm glad you're writing about it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful reminder!!! :) THANK you!
